September 2017 Newsletter

September 2017 Newsletter

September is here, preparations have been made for the new school year, and I look forward to seeing the children and hearing about the fun things they did during the summer.

To help keep the children in the school healthy, please make sure your child washes their hands as soon as they arrive. Now we have a sink in the classroom for that purpose. This month Mrs. Hannan and I will be showing and encouraging the children to cough and sneeze into their elbows.

Pictures and other work that your child does during the morning will be put in their basket by the door, and can go home as you leave.

It is exciting to see how quickly the children adapt and make new friends. To help build a tight knit school community, you will be receiving an email directory of the families in the school so you can plan play dates.

We are a small school and would appreciate help purchasing snack foods and other necessary supplies. At the beginning of each month I will post a donation list on the bulletin board behind the door. Please initial any items you donate, to keep the list up to date through the month. Several copies of the list will be set beside the parent file for you to take, mark, and use as a reminder. Thank you for your help.

Tuition is due before the 5th of each month. I will send a reminder email at the end of each month. Please contact Rhonda or myself, if for some reason you may need a little more time.

In the classroom, there are some Crossridge Montessori brochures to pass out to any parents looking for a school. If you refer the school to someone and their child comes to our school, we will give you a $100 credit on your tuition.

On the Horizon:

Wednesday, September 27th @ 11:30 – we will visit the Apple orchard at Oregon Heritage Farm on Scholl's Ferry Rd. The cost will be $5.00 per student. We will start with a hay ride and then eat our lunches under their covered eating area. There are animals to look at, an Apple Jump House, and a corn maze to walk through. Watch for more information.

At the end of October, we will visit Koch Family Farms, and the children will have a chance to find the perfect pumpkin. More information coming soon.

Crossridge Montessori is on Facebook. Look us up when you get a chance, then like us, and follow us.

It is going to be a great year.

August 2017 Newsletter - Beginning of the Year

August 2017 Newletter

With September just around the corner, we are preparing for the coming school year. I look forward to seeing everyone again, and hearing about the fun things the children did this summer.

Enclosed is the list of supplies your child will need to start the school year, a school calendar, Parental Authorization form, a Daily Schedule, and the Student Information form (please make sure to fill out both sides). Important: Make sure to let me know if your child has any allergies or fears (sensitive to loud noises, afraid of dogs or lightning, etc). I will give you the immunization form and parent handbook at the time of your child's orientation or first day of school.

Dates to remember:

Parent/Child Orientation – August 21 – September 1

I will be calling this week to arrange a time for orientation with new students. This is a special time for children and parents new to Crossridge Montessori to become familiar with the school, and the morning routine. Each child will meet separately with me for about thirty minutes in the classroom. Your child will not only become better acquainted with his/her teacher but also with the activities in the classroom. Parents are asked to remain at school during this meeting but to be as much in the background as your child is comfortable. It is okay for you to bring a book or magazine.

Orientation is a good time to bring school supplies, and any forms you have filled out. This will help to reduce some of the chaos of the first day.

Although not required, sometimes it is a good idea for a returning student to visit the classroom, and get ready for the transition back into the school.

First day of school – Tuesday September 5.

If you take some cute pictures of the children at any of the school activities, please share them with us. We have parents who may not be able to come to all the activities because of their work. You can email the pictures, or burn them on a cd, and I can pass them around.

Please note the school's email address, and telephone number in the letterhead. Please feel free to email me at any time if you have any ideas, information, comments, or concerns. I will take phone calls on my cell till 9pm, but you can text me anytime.

I pray that all of you have had a wonderful summer.

Sharon Brookens
